Rediscovering Eden
Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the bright and morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
and watch me rise again
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
I am Yours

Messed up
-11:48 PM
Argh. When will I stop messing up? How come I seem to do everything wrongly even when I never meant for it to go this way? How come I seem to have an ability to piss people off?
Haiz.:(
Anyways, to people I have pissed off, sorry and I mean it.

Accident No.1:
Mid-way during GV17 today, I wanted to fill up my water-bottle and go to the toilet. So, I asked my group members if anyone wanted to fill their bottles too. Meijun and Regina gave me theirs. So, after using the toilet, I went to the water-tank which has two outlets. One outlet gives cold water while the other, warm/hot water. I thought that, since its cold in the LT and since we are singing all the way, I should fill the bottles with a bit of warm water too. Meijun's bottle had a big opening but it was almost totally blocked by some plastic thing, leaving a small opening. I noticed that but I did not really bother as I thought that I could aim BUT yeah I aimed right but because most of the opening was blocked with the plastic plus the warm water came out in a gush, the water over-spilled onto my hand. I was more in shock than in pain. So, I did not bother to cool my hand but just switched to the cold water outlet. After a while, I thought that for routine sake and all other purposes, I had better cool my hand. Uh-heh. So diao diao. Went back to class with one sleeve wet, one slipper wet, bottles "drenched" and a pinkish-red hand. Accident No.2:
When it was class break, we all went to the toilet. When I came out, my left foot kicked into Meijun's shoe and I went "ouch" but I did not really feel THAT painful. It wasnt until after a while when I looked down, did I see a crack in my 4th toenail on my left foot. There was blood along the crack. Part of my nail was already detached. I wanted to just pull off the detached part but some of my friends felt that I shouldnt and I did not really want to since I did not have a nail-clipper with me. On the advice of Daniel, I went to wash my wound and after the wound looked cleaner, I just shook the detached part of the nail and pulled it off. I dont really like my nails hanging anyway. I washed the wound again and there was a bit of pain but thats all. Regina was laughing at me all the way gleefully cause I had to stick up leg up into the basin and she had to control the tap so that the water pressure was not too much for my feet to bear. Was probably some entertainment. HA! Joke of the day. The tap was the press-press kind so it was hard to control and the two of us kept laughing. Good thing there wasnt anyone else in the toilet. In the end, she pressed and place her hand below the tap so that the water came down her hand in drips. I was kind to selecting which drip of water I wanted. haha. AND she took so much toilet paper for like a super small nail?? Check out the photos below. Regina suggested taking photos...!?!Her happiness in my discomfort. Laughing at the lame.

For all purposes, introducing THE TOE-NAIL.
erms.. the white thing in the middle is the detached nail..not a maggot and the brown background is the chair skin...

lagging posts

TODAYI did not do much today considering the fact that I woke up at 1415. Yes, I know I am a pig but I dont really care since I slog so much during the semester. So there! In the evening, I made my way to Starbucks at City Hall to meet some of my 4A'02 christian friends. It was a gathering initiated by Wesley to pray for the non-Christians in the class. After buying dinner, we made our way to one of the seminar rooms in SMU. It was my FIRST visit to SMU. Uh-oh..exposing my suagu-ness..but its okay. I have all the while wanted to know where on earth SMU is. Yes, I do know that its around City Hall or Plaza Singapura but exactly?? And it doesnt quite help that they do not have a particular location but are like pieces of land lying around. Anyhow, it was quite cool and I was commenting that the place looks like an MRT station control with the machines to scan cards lined up one after another just like that in a normal MRT station. Before I forget, the rooms in SMU are apparently super secure. Once you get out, you cant get in unless you have a card or someone inside opens it for you. Man..haha..I think I literally was going to rip the door apart when I came back from the toilet. Okays..back to business.. We started with Praise and Worship lead by Daniel followed by sharings of how life has been. The people present were Wesley, Daniel, Caleb, Garrick, Gloria, Junjie and Yours truly. The guys shared about life in NS while the girls shared about uni. Then we prayed using prayer pointers Wesley came up with. Just nice, there were 7 points for 7 of us. 1. Ourselves2. Sensitivity and be led by the Holy Spirit3. Outside distractions and things people turn to when problems surface(e.g. clubbing, BGR etc.)4. Receptive heart5. ?6. ?7. Commit, Trust, Faithhmms. I cant remember those two points, so if anyone remembers, must tell me so I can fill in the blanks. As we prayed, I felt refreshed as the Holy Spirit was at work in that small group. I could so sense the Holy Spirit around. Indeed, when two or three are gathered, He is there among us. It has been such a long time since I had this feeling and I really treasure it. It reminded me of MEET, the many meetings we had and the many praying times we had be it in Singapore or China. Miss them man.. I really really treasure such group praying events where the like-minded are gathered for a particular purpose with a common identity in Him. It reminded me once again that we are not the only people on earth; it reminded me that we are commissioned to go forth and share the Gospel with the unbelievers; it reminded me the importance of prayer, something that I have been neglecting for a while cause yes, I pray daily but I need people to push me along sometimes to put my heart and soul into prayer rather than think that I am some superwoman who can do things on her own.19th May
I did not sleep well the whole of night before even though I had flu and cough. As a result, 19th May was a day of cough and flu for me and it did not help that I had a whole day packed ahead of me. Daddy drove me down to Holland Village to meet up with the other exco members for our first meeting. We met at Kaya Kun for breakfast before going to coffeebean for the meeting. Many many issues were discussed. I left at 1340 to go to Church of Singapore for a visit. Daddy came to fetch me after he picked bell up. And due to miscommunication and some form of lateness on my part, I got a big scolding. Oh well...I DID try to come out earlier. Maybe I should just TRY HARDER! Anyhows, I went to Beauty World to wait for Gwen and while waiting, I went to Shop and Save to buy two bottles of Orange Juice. Yes, Vitamin C does work to kill the flu or rather, it boost your immune system to kill that influenza virus(sorry arh..my bio stuff ..hee). Unfortunately, the flu did go away a bit BUT my coughing did increase in intensity and frequency. *bangs head* I should have known better cause its COLD orange juice.
The service was good and stayed for a while for their cell group before leaving for Aranda Country Club at PASIR RIS for Ming Yang's birthday party. Nice place and rooms are quite big. We played mahjong there (game only lah..nv gamble..)and talked and talked and eat and eat. Should have more gatherings in the future as long as they are SUCCESSFUL gatherings.

Blessing
-3:48 PM
A married lady was expecting a birthday gift from her husband. For many months she had admired a beautiful diamond ring in a showroom, and knowing her husband could afford it, she told him that was all she wanted. As her birthday approached, this lady awaited signs that her husband had purchasedthe diamond ring. Finally, on the morning of her birthday, her husband called her into his study room. Her husband told her how proud he was to have such a good wife, and told her how much he love d her. He handed her a beautiful wrapped giftbox. Curious, the wife opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the wife's name embossed in gold. Angrily, she raised her voiceto her husband and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible? " and stormed out of the house, leaving her husband.
Many years passed and the married lady was very successful in business. She managed to settle for a more beautiful house and a wonderful family, but realized her ex-husband was very old, and thought perhaps she should go to visit him. She had not seen him for many years. But before she could make arrangements, she received a telegram telling her that her ex-husband had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to her. She needed to come back immediately and take care of things.
When she arrived at her ex-husband's house, sudden sadness and regret filled her heart. She began to search through her exhusband's importan tpapers and saw the still new Bible, just as she had left it years ago. With tears, she opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. Her ex-husband had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11, "And if you, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your HeavenlyFather which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As she read those words, a tiny package dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a diamond ring with her name engraved on it, the same diamond ring which she saw at the showroom. On the tag was the date of her birth, and the words...'LUV U ALWAYS'...How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?

GV17: Magic in the world of a Singer
-12:35 AM
This is my intersem module and I totally love it!
Basically, its a module that teaches you about the voice, how to sing, and about the instrument(as the lecturer calls it) within our body. Yes, we do have to sing. We will probably be singing each lesson. Each person has to do 2 presentations(i.e SING on stage) and one group presentation for CA.
At first, I was a little afraid of singing, cause man, thats singing not playing the piano. If it was playing the piano for a crowd, it would still be ok cause I've done masterclass and performances before but sing? I only sing in church and to people I am familiar with. Anyhow, when we got into class for the first time, Ms L.Q, the lecturer got each of us to take turns introducing ourselves with a microphone that had super strong amplification! She said she wants to hear our voice. As the lesson went on, we were introduced to the different types of voices, the various parts of instruments that create the sound they produce etc. We were divided into groups:
Accelerando,
Bel Canto,
Cresendo,
Diminuendo,
Expressivo. I am in
Accelerando, and I like them. Everyone is friendly and all. I had thought that I would know no one else in class but Leqi was in the class too and I made friends with this girl called Regina. In our groups, we were asked to share why each of us wanted to join this course and what musical background we had. After that, one representative from each group shared on behalf of the group what was discussed. And because I was the only diplomanist in the class, each time she touched on music stuff, rhythm etc. she would look at me for answers and a couple of time, I stared at the floor cause I was either unsure or I didn't know the answer. GheeZ. Cause I can play the stuff she said but I simply don't know how to put those into words. But she still kept looking at me for answers anyway. We were exposed to many different musicals, songs, orchestric music etc. to learn about dynamics, different types of singing etc. We were given simple rhythms and asked to clap. That was quite simple except that she wanted instrumentalist to write out the notations of the rhythms. Eg. dotted quaver-semiquaver-crotchet. That was a challenge to me cause in all my years to playing , I simply had to count or sing the rhythm, I did not have to listen to a song and change it into notations on paper. That was new! I guess another reason I chose this course was that, it compliments what I have learned in piano class, and allowing me to learn stuff that are not emphasised in ABRSM materials.
I also learned about classical singing. Apparently, there isn't a microphone for classical singers. The teacher was saying that when she sang at the Esplanade last year, she had to make sure her voice could reach the 3rd circus seats. What these singers do is that, they make use of the body's own internal amplifications to generate the song. While most may feel that these classical singers sound like opera singers and i have to agree to a certain extent, listening to many performances has made me appreciate such singing. I actually prefer these to pop simply because of their ability to withstand the test of time and the fact that its more artsy if I may say. Haha, I've realised that after I warm-up, I can hit notes much higher than I thought I could, my voice became much louder than before and I could actually sing classical. I use to think that I was a toad that could only croak.
We were given a list of songs to prepare as well for the last performance which would be held at ADM auditorium where external people can be invited for the performance. (By the way, the course is held in ADM. haha. My first time in that building.) Thank God I still have my normal piano lessons. So i shared with my piano teacher what I learned and got to help me with my singing since she did voice and piano in her uni days in the States. She taught me how to present certain rhythms in words/numbers/time-signature and taught me to sing All I ask of you(Phantom of the Opera).
So looking forward to my next lesson.

070507-090507 (EXCO RETREAT)
-11:10 PM
Wonder who reads my blog nowadays but anyways..
Today marks the end of the 3-day exco retreat at Agape Methodist Church. I've come to realise that coming up with directions with the next academic year is not an easy task at all. I learned quite a deal about organisations as a whole, group dynamics etc. There are a couple things about myself which I want to improve and due to the nature of those things, I shall leave them out at the moment. Ask if you are KAYPOH enough and maybe and I stress
maybe, I will tell you. Haha. I've come to realise the amount of accounting I have to do which is quite something for non-accounting student me.
Wanted to post pics of the handover to us by the previous exco BUT i dont know why everytime I try to post the pics, the pics turn out as a brown slide. Oh well, will figure it out somehow. BUT if anyone who happens to read and know whats the problem, please please tell me.

Do pray for us and others as we start pioneering and getting the whole thing started. Pray that our thoughts and whatever we do will not be because we have the manpower, we have the people with the required abilites or just because its interesting and we are interested; but rather because its in-line with what God wants us to do, in-line with the vision, mission and direction of NTUCF. Yup.
